Turning Gas Into Hydrogen with No Emissions; Germans Finally Get It?

The German Energiewende has done nothing for emissions while raising electricity prices but, by turning gas into hydrogen, Germans could redeem themselves.

Hm.  So OK, they crack ng and get H2.  Where does the carbon go?  I really don't care myself, but that article doesn't tell the whole story.

Coal country is dotted with culm piles.  Coal fired power plants have to dispose of ash. I'll grant the utility of powdered carbon, but I wonder if the utility can keep up with the H2 burn rate.  (Well, I suppose we can burn the carbon dust and use the heat for something.)
