Utica depth/thickness
« on: March 21, 2010, 08:17:48 PM »
Has anybody found any depth/thickness maps for the Utica in Michigan?  I'm especially interested in SE Michigan.

Were you able to get anything out of the 'formation tops' file I sent you?

I suspect the file is too big for my home email.  I'll see if anything made it through to my work email tomorrow morning.  Thanks.

You can also use the data via the "Michigan online oil and gas database" to get that same data.  It requires java and turning off your popup blocker.   Go to this page (where there is a lot of other good info too),  http://www.michigan.gov/deq/0,1607,7-135-6132_6828-98518--,00.html then click the online database link.

That's another thing I'll try at work.  I couldn't get it to work here... don't know if I've got an old version of JAVA or what.  Their disclaimer somewhere on the site explaining that everything-really-does-work makes me skeptical of the site's robustness.

Have you guys been in touch with GEOMAN from this forum; he is a geologist working in the Michigan region.  I'd be interested to hear his thoughts on that Utica well up north.  I sent him a PM  asking about it but haven't heard back yet.

That file is 7,404 KB
Let me know if you would like to me to put it on my server.  You could then likely grab it thru your browser

Try renaming to .dat and resending to lmco address; the attachment got stripped.  Thanks
