You are some dude from Boston with 2 acres in a Southwestern unit on the far eastern edge of the play. You have nothing to add here. But if thats what turns you on. I mean blowing up legitimate important discussion. Go for it.
You've done some of the relevant research, so finish the job, come on over and I'll dig a Sam Adams out of the reefer for you.
Legitimate discussion needs focus.  Where's yours?  Some kind of touchy feeling that requires no thought, I imagine.

it's been rumored for a few months that chk will add a fourth rig to the northeast Marcellus.

chk recently closed on its' sale of the Haynesville and ohio dry gas assets, using the money to pay down and restructure its' debt. the "going concern" situation has been mitigated somewhat.

chk has been, and is contacting landowners to clear up lease issues in advance of a more aggressive drilling schedule.

the reasons behind it are fairly obvious. chk now has less land to drill (nationwide), more money to do it with and with less gas coming from other plays, they need to get their total flows back up to sustain revenue. add to that, the Marcellus is still their most profitable area of operations, and it's a no brainer.

chk states that they will be concentrating on their best assets for near term drilling. permit activity has increased. it's likely gonna happen in the fairway.

can't say that I'm excited at the prospect of blowing out a coupla bcf at $2 gas, but it is what it is and I ain't getin' no younger.

Hopefully we get $ 2.00. Im told its
   70 degrees back there.

4 Rigs drilling 10,000 foot plus horizontals. 6 or 8 per pad. Thats a lot of gas. 3 bcf per 1000 feet. Let me get my calculator out.

before you get a calculator out, you need to first get some facts.

rumors are one thing, but your last post is factually inaccurate.

Seriously, do you have projected EURs that you are working from or just yanking another number out from where the sun don't shine?  Whatever else you may think, EURs are floating numbers due to recovery enhancement techniques, not all of which are in current use nor allowed for in stock prospectuses (prospecti?)

Cabot likes to use EUR. They use a graph to compare to their peers. Cabot predicts 4bcf per 1000 feet in the lower and 2.9 in the upper. Its just a calculated guess. Not sure if CHK does the same publicly. So 3bcf per 1000 feet is a ballpark figure. 3 or 4 rigs can drill many thousand feet. Thats a lot of gas.

Thats a hypothetical. But if you have 3 or 4 rigs going thats a lot of footage.

It's variable, rat.  For example, in this nekka da woods, "my" pad has 7 wells.  One just up the road has only 4, and another with just 3.  SWN (I have been told) has permitted all pads for 10 wells.  I've not seen any documents saying that, but my source is an SWN employee that should know.  What the other producers are doing, only matty says he knows, but I think he guesses a lot.

Cabot guy said they may build another pad close to one that has 11 wells.
  Probably for the upper wells.
